African countries including Zimbabwe need to standardise their mobile money platforms with globally recognised standards like International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) for convenience to its people, an expert has said. However, the Ministry of ICT and Cyber Security recently issued an ultimatum ordering the interoperability of mobile money. TelOne intends to complete rolling out new area codes across the country by June 2018. TelOne began the role out of new area codes last year under the National Broadband (NBB) project. The company reminded members of the public through an advertisement in The Herald that the area code for Harare had changed. Harare’s area code previously 04 was now changed to 024.
