The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament kicked off with a special live screening of the opening match, hosted by MultiChoice Zimbabwe for media and helping to highlight the ongoing saturation coverage of the event on SuperSport.
“As Africa’s premier football showcase, it is important to remind viewers in Zimbabwe that every match is screened live with extensive before and after previews and reviews, and this event helped do just that,” said Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe
“The launch event was held at the popular Spillway restaurant close to Lake Chivero outside Harare, attended by a wide selection of sporting and other journalists. We watched the Zimbabwe-Egypt game and had lots of discussion about the whole tournament, not the least of which was debate as to how Zimbabwe’s Warriors would fare this time round.”
In addition to the screening, there was entertainment from Dance First, Tamba acrobats and Zim’s top DJ’s, AshStyles and Nivek. A panel discussion led by Larry Kwirirai and Philemon Jambaya and facilitated by the MC , comedian Doc Vikela was also held during the event.
“We also had fun competitions, question and answer sessions and, of course, we enjoyed delightful food and drinks from the venue,” said Ms Dziva.
The event was co-sponsored by Delta Beverages, AccoLeisure, Game Recognise and Game Green House Bar.
Coverage of the 2019 Afcon continues to the tournament final on July 19, although subsequent post-event reviews will continue for some time after the closing match.
