According to NetOne, this synergy marks the initial phase of the Safe Cities Partnership with the ZRP.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony where NetOne donated equipment that will enable the smooth operation of the Safe Cities Program, Netone board Chairman James Matiza said the partnership stems from NetOne’s commitment in developing communities by playing a crucial role while assisting the police to perform their duties.
“I am delighted to be handing over equipment for this phase of the Partnership, which comprises of four motorbikes, 217 reflective jackets, 31 rain suits and whistles to capacitate the ZRP traffic police,”
“This partnership, stems from our commitment to developing communities, by playing a pivotal role in assisting the police to perform their duties” he said.
NetOne has selected a number of intersections in Harare CBD that usually experience high volume traffic, the grid covers Simon Muzenda to Kenneth Kaunda through to Josiah Tongogara, Rotten Row and Cripps to Josiah Tongogara.
“As Netone, we selected 28 prime intersections, experiencing high traffic volumes, throughout the Business district. This marks the initial phase of our Safe Cities Partnership, with Zimbabwe Republic police Traffic section” chairman Matiza said.
ZRP expressed gratitude to Netone by assisting them with equipment that will enhance them to perform their duties in full capacity.
