3 Winners Scoop Potraz International Letter Writing Competition

3 students walked away with cash prizes at the World Post Day Celebrations in Mudzi that were held on Friday, courtesy of the ministry of ICT and Cyber Security, through Potraz.

As Part of the World Post Day Celebrations Potraz awarded the national winners under the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Writing Competition.

The Annual UPU International Letter-Writing Competition is managed and funded by POTRAZ and is organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Educations (MoPSE). The competition aims to enhance literacy through the art of letter writing. It is targeted at children and young people and the competition encourages participants to express their creativity and refine their language skills.

The UPU chooses a theme annually that the students must write about. Each year’s theme is different and the theme for 2018 is “Imagine you are a letter travelling through time. What message do you wish to convey to your readers?” The national level winners were Munyaradzi Nomailinga from Fletcher High School, Runyararo Zhou from Runyararo and in 1st position Roy Mapiravana from Holy Cross High school.

According to Communication Theory, the ability to write a good and perfect letter can be as useful as the ability to talk well and maintain excellent inter-personal relationships. Thus letter writing is articulated as not only a form of art but also of paramount importance in the social and business asset.
