Speaking at the handover ceremony, POTRAZ Acting Director General Alfred Marisa said that their corporate contribution is meant to give back to the community and alleviate the suffering of the less privileged members in the society.

“POTRAZ has over the years, continuously supported both national and community initiatives that either saves lives or contribute towards changing the lives of Zimbabweans” he said.

Through such initiatives, the Director General urged more corporates and privileged members in the society to give what they can to assisting and bettering the conditions of societies.

He said the main thrust behind the  donations is to provide an opportunity to promote a culture of a socially responsible citizenry.

“As the meaning of Ubuntu goes, I am because we are and because we are , you are,” Marisa added.

The Finance and Administration Manager for Kidzcan  Mr Gift Marunda said that the donation of US$50 000 will make a difference in the lives of children that are affected by cancer.

“We have adopted the A4 Special Ward at Parirenyatwa where children with cancer are housed  and we are elated by the donation because  it will go a long way in assisting kids because cancer  treatments are very expensive in Zimbabwe,” he said.

POTRAZ will also soon be  handing over contributions towards the fight against the cholera epidemic which recently affected some parts of the country.
