Latest Social Media Stats On Zimbabwe, 47% on Facebook

Most Zimbabweans have painfully said that Whatsapp is also a social media platform and often hear  many “experts” referring Whatsapp amongst other  social media platforms. Whatsapp is a private messaging platform, except it has “public groups”, anywhere that;s not the story for the day.

According to GS counter, Facebook has been cited as the nation’s most popular social media platform in Zimbabwe , taking over a total market share of 47%, while  the last year results showed that we had 850 000 Facebook users in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe has a 16.337,760 million population with  6,721,947 internet users and national The active internet penetration rate increased by 1.3% to reach 52.1% in the first
quarter of 2018 from 50.8% recorded in the last quarter of 2017 following a 3.6%
increase in active internet subscriptions

 Despite the rather low internet penetration rate in the country, mobile penetration in Zimbabwe for the year 2017 stood at 102.7%, meaning that there are more mobile phones than people in Zimbabwe.
