NetOne unveils US$80k sponsorship for Black Rhinos FC

Black Rhinos Football Club received a timely boost of US$80 000 sponsorship ahead of their quest for Premier League Championship from leading mobile operator, NetOne at their headquarters in Harare today.

Speaking at the sponsorship unveiling ceremony NetOne CEO, Lazarus Muchenje said NetOne is committed to ensuring sustainable development of club sport and individual talent in Zimbabwe.

“As NetOne we are playing our part in trying to ensure that football develops to competitive levels. This is the 5th team that we are sponsoring this season alone and we have a strong conviction that we shall see the expected results in the near future.”

The NetOne youthful Boss said they are proactively investing in talent and in the future by supporting different sporting disciplines.


“NetOne has poured in one million two hundred and ten thousand dollars into football through the various partnerships that we have entered into.


Accepting the sponsorship Chief of Staff Quartermaster Staff Major General Hlanganani Dube could not hide his joy and expressed his gratitude especially at a time, when like everyone else, the Black Rhinos Team has not been spared by economic challenges.  



He also said “this event marks an important milestone in the development and nurturing of sport in the Zimbabwe National Army. You must be all aware that sport is part of training and as such it is very crucial in breeding the much needed teamwork and physical so required in the organisation.”


Major General Dube also urged the Black Rhinos FC better known as Chauya Chipembere to defy all odds and rise to the expectations of their sponsors.


NetOne has a long history of supporting soccer, in 2017, they contributed two hundred and fifty thousand dollars towards the national soccer team, The Warriors, in their African Cup of Nations expedition.


In the same year, NetOne also assististed CAPS Utd FC in their quest to conquer Africa in the CAF Champions League campaign.

The ceremony was attended by  Brigadier General F Mhonda – Commander 2 Brigade Brigadier General Mangena – Commander Artillery Brigade, Colonel Chizengwe – Chairman Black Rhinos FC, Lieutenant Colonel Sithole – Secretary General Black Rhinos FC, several Senior  Officers and NetOne Senior Management.
