POTRAZ Takes Awareness Campaign To Manicaland

THE Postal and Telecommunication and Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz)’s rights awareness campaign rolled into Manicaland yesterday with various activities, including roadshows, being lined up to educate consumers on their telecommunications rights

The campaign involves roadshows in Nyanyadzi, Nedziwa, Marange, Odzi, Penhalonga, Watsomba, London Store, Tombo 1, Tombo 2 and Nyanga.

Potraz official Phibian Chaibva told NewsDay that he was happy with the turnout at their first outreach programme at Birchenough Bridge, yesterday.

“I am satisfied with the attendance, already people are coming in their numbers. People are ready to be educated on their rights, we are teaching them on their rights that they have a right to complain against their service providers,” he said.

“We are teaching them on basic rights, that they have a right to privacy and no one should infringe on their rights, we are hosting the roadshows across the province and we are urging consumers to report to us wherever they feel short-changed by network providers.”

Potraz has held several shows in Mutoko, Muzarabani, Gokwe, Matabeleland province, Centenary, among other areas, since the beginning of the year.

“Our key mandate is consumer protection and quality of service is key to us, all network providers should put the interests of their customers first and we not hesitate to punish postal and telecommunication that prejudice customers,” Chaibva said.

Last year, Potraz ordered NetOne to compensate One Fusion customers who had been shortchanged by the company’s billing system.
