Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) Board Chairman, Mr Ozias Bvute won the recently held ZANU PF primary elections, clearing his way to stand as a Member of Parliament (MP) candidate ahead of the national general elections.
Should he be elected Goromonzi North Member of Parliament, the POTRAZ boss will have to drop his POTRAZ chairmanship to concentrate more on Parliament business.
If he wins the election against the main opposition candidate from the MDC Alliance, Bvute will likely have found a new ticket into government, should ZANU PF win the majority in the Presidential elections and go on to form the next government.
For competent candidates, a parliamentary seat is almost an automatic government ticket and should everything work out well for Bvute, it will set a new dawn for a man who has held various top position in government boards and business sector.
Bvute, a holder of Bachelor of Commerce degree specialising in Banking & Finance from University of Puna, India, has held several influential positions, heading the Integration Implementation Committee of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union in 2001 among many other positions including his current position as the POTRAZ chairman.
But he is no stranger to scandals, having been implicated in a $6 million scandal, together with Wilson Manase and Paul Chingoma of having mismanaged the funds which had been given to Zimbabwe Cricket by the International Cricket Council, by investing it in a bank on whose board they sat.
