The Zimbabwe Information and Communication Technologies (ZICT) will celebrate The International Girls in ICT day on the 26th of April by hosting a competition where girls will submit either a video or post a write up on Girls in ICT Zimbabwe facebook page.
Running under the theme, “ICT empowering the child,” The International Girls in ICT day is initiative backed by all ITU Member States in International telecommunication Union (ITU). The Girls in ICT said that every girl and woman deserves to be digitally literate and successful in life.
We are hosting a competition where girls will submit either a video or post a write up on Girls in ICT Zimbabwe facebook page.The video or the write up should stress how ICT has empowered the life of a Girl Child in Zimbabwe,” said ZICT.
The International Girls in ICT day aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICTs, enabling both girls and technology companies to reap the benefits of greater female participation in the ICT sector.
International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of April and will this year be observed on 26 April 2018. To date, over 300,000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 9,000 celebrations of International Girls in ICT Day in 166 countries worldwide, according to the ITU website.
The winners of the competition will be presented with; Branded laptop, Branded Cellphone
One year online access to techno robotic curriculum, Cash, Airtime Flash disk, hard drive, a dongle.
Recently ZICT joined some other organizations in hosting the Cyber Security Conference that was held at the Celebration Centre in Harare last week. The organization has started the year on a high, with their efforts in the ICT sector commendable.
ZICT is a division of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE).
