Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe joins the coterie of Zimbabwean banks that removed the DStv payment service on the back of forex shortages.
Other banks such as Steward bank, CBZ, had pulled the DStv payment plug.
“We kindly advise that we will temporarily suspend the DSTV payment service with effect from 1 December 2017.
This suspension arises from the need to effectively allocate limited foreign currency to other critical needs,” said the bank in an email sent to customers.
Barclays Bank customers were among the few banks that had the privilege for subscribing to DStv straight from their accounts.
But is was a matter of time before the bank tapped out, yielding to the chokehold from the prevailing forex crisis.
