Telecel Zimbabwe had in the past-suffered brain drain to competitors as some executives migrated from the mobile network, especially during the shutdown threat era.

When #Mondayblues reached out to Mr Chirokote for comment, he confirmed having left the MNO and since moved over to join a named insurance company as their Chief technology personnel.

Chirokote however said he regretted having left before his ambitious 4g project was complete, while he takes pride in having diligently worked towards leading the implementation of it thereof.

Chirokote was with Econet Wireless Zimbabwe before leaving and promoted for the top post at Telecel Zimbabwe.

Telecel Zimbabwe has survived a potential crush down which was instigated by government as they threatened to shut it down, causing serious confidence issues.

Telecel used to be the second biggest mobile network in Zimbabwe, and greatly crumbled amid stakeholders infighting and licensing issues before government bought over the 60% Vimplecom stake.

The major blow was on brain drainage as most experts jumped ship to look for job security as the Telecel Zimbabwe boat was being rocked by both internal and external pressure.

The ultimate miracle however was the stable 1.8million active subscribers who continuously stayed on the network and only hoped for the best from the network which saw a bounce back to the market.
