TechnoMag has partnered the South African Super Rugby franchises, over the grand match which will see the Vodacom Bulls and Toyota Cheetahs clashing and set to light up the gigantic National Sorts Stadium ablaze this weekend, the 6th of February 2016.
The hype was high yesterday as the boys in blue touched down on the Harare International Airport, en-route Victoria Falls, given a red carpet welcome courtesy of St Johns Scottish band pipers as they flew in in for the Lafarge Zimbabwe Champions Cup.
The event organizers, Kyros Sports, said that 12 000 tickets have already beeen sold and they are expecting over 15 000 crowd to come and witness the premier game going live from the gigantic stadium.
Former Zimbabwe youth international Kisset Chirengende, the founder and director of Kyros Sports, told TechnoMag in an exclusive interview that the top team players from both sides were expected as they lift the Zimbabwe flag to become the destiny for premier rugby matches.
“The Vodacom Bulls group A team as you can see behind me has just landed, we have almost 10 Springbok players in the country, they have had a nice time in Victoria falls and tomorrow training starts at Prince Edward and the cheaters are arriving on Friday, its a first of its kind to have such a match in Zimbabwe and we need the best national support.”
Chirengende said he was hopeful the visit by the South African giants would help stimulate the growth of rugby in Zimbabwe, where the game has struggled to realise its full potential due to lack of funding.
Last year, Kyros Sports also organised the highly successful Dairibord Kyros Rugby Academy Week, which saw former All Blacks player and coach John Mitchell, ex-Springboks head coach Peter de Villiers holding coaching clinics in the country.
