Some people believe that light and pale skinned people potray beauty, richness and success as well while in some instances it is said that dark complexioned people are considered below standard and so people opt for skin whitening or bleaching creams, pills and other products.

The formulations of these blitz products are shrouded in mystery and awareness of their hazardous effects is low.

Skin lightening creams contain mainly two chemicals thus, hydroquinone or mecury ,which is hazardous to the skin.

A research conducted across the streets of Harare revealed that most of the young boys and girls prefer using skin whitening products so that they get a good status in their group, family and society, however these people use over the counter bleaches.

The research found out that quiet a number of women have their face “abnormally” lighter than the rest of their bodies.

In fact, the commercials shown on the television also potray the same thing. All these things have a great impact on the minds of young men and women and they opt for whatever cream or pill they can afford.

This quest has made everyone either man or woman want to have a flawless, even and smooth skin tone. Skin bleaching is a good option to get rid of the black spots or any other type of spots on skin.

Skin whitening options have however become very complicated these days and there are plenty of options available in the market leaving the customers confused.

The side effects of skin bleaching include having dark grey spots on the skin, skin cancer, and acne, swelling of the skin, thinning of the skin, cataracts, setting down of fat on face, chest, upper back and stomach, psychiatric disorders, asthma, liver damage.

Medical practitioners have warned against the use of these over the counter bleaches as these break skin tissues and it will cause complications ,thus in case of an accident ,the skin cannot be stitched.

Ivory Coast has banned skin whitening creams which are widely used in West Africa,the ban affects whitening creams that contain hydroquinone or mercury and its derivatives,cortisone,Vitamin A.

Using chemical bleaches on the skin can cause harm to your skin in the long run, therefore it is essential to use natural remedies for having clean and flawless skin.

Diet is the most important part that you should take care of if you want a flawless skin. Take away all refined food products and replace them with healthy and nutritious ones.

Increase your intake of water, this helps keep skin free of dehydration and so the look is healthy and unblemished.

Take proper care of cleaning your skin. Choose the product that is natural and effective. Pay attention to exfoliating your skin from time to time so that you get rid of the dead skin.

Limes and Lemons also work, citric acid is natural bleach and will help you have a lighter skin time without any side effect. You can make a face mask with lime juice, few drops of glycerin and flour to make a paste. Apply this on your face and leave for 20 – 30 minutes. Wash with normal water.

  2. i think in zimbabwe they should ban the use of these whitening creams because they cause skin cancer and it also weakens the body
